Responsibilities

The Respiratory Therapist supplies approved Respiratory Care Services to Grand View Health inpatients and outpatients of all ages and demographics.

As a Respiratory Therapist at Grand View Health, you will be working in the ER for emergency treatments, STAT blood gases, initiating bi-pap and aiding in one of three Trauma Bays, staff the Pediatric and Labor and Delivery Floors. The pediatric unit is staffed 24/7 by CHOP physicians.

 

Essential Functions of the Respiratory Therapist:

  • Perform ventilator management
  • Maintains patient Respiratory Care charting according to medical record guidelines to ensure complete record of care delivered.
  • Educates patients and their families about their conditions and teaches proper disease management techniques.
  • Perform Arterial Blood gas draws and analysis.
  • Insert and monitor A-Lines.
  • Supports compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards.
  • Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.
  • Responds to rapid responses and Codes

Grand View Health is a community non-profit Level 2 Trauma Center with 168 licensed beds in the heart of Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Associates Degree Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. See regs for qualifications for individuals who were licensed prior to 2002, required

Licenses and Certifications:
CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Upon hire, required
RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Upon hire, required
Licensed by the PA State Board of Medicine (or PA State Board of Osteopathic Medicine) as a Respiratory Therapist, Upon hire, required
Basic Life Support (BLS), Upon hire, required
