Responsibilities

$3000 sign on bonus available for experienced Paramedics*

 

 

Under the direction of the Emergency and Transport Services Operations Supervisor and the daily supervision of the Lead Paramedic, the Paramedic has responsibility for the delivery of pre-hospital patient care for neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.  The Paramedic will perform these duties in accord with Act 37, EMS Rules and Regulations, regional protocols and hospital policies and procedures.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Accepts orders from approved Medical Command physicians, and promptly implements interventions. When appropriate, during times of radio communications failure, provides pre-hospital care according to established Bucks or Montgomery County protocols.
  • Operates, restocks, and supports the ALSU vehicle, to ensure a constant state of readiness.
  • Aids with rescue and extrication of patients. Can function safely and effectively in hazardous environments to ensure stabilization and safety of patients and other personnel.
  • Works with local EMS, fire, and law enforcement agencies in a coordinated effort on the patient’s behalf.
  • When Transport Division office is closed, obtains information and coordinates efforts to arrange ambulance or wheelchair van transportation.
  • When not performing the functions of an EMT – Paramedic (responding to ALSU calls), functions in the Department of Emergency Medicine according to the job description of the Patient Care Associate, under the direction of the charge nurse and the professional staff.
  • Maintains functional knowledge of Bucks and Montgomery County protocols.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED, required

Licenses and Certifications:
Paramedic – Licensed, Upon hire, required
Basic Life Support (BLS), Upon hire, required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Upon hire, required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Upon hire, required

Completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operators course, required
