With an expertise in nutrition, the Dietitian, Endocrinology provides medical nutrition therapy to patients of all ages in acute care, outpatient and rehabilitation settings. The Dietitian, Endocrinology participates as a team member in performance improvement, education and administrative activities needed to support the Food and Nutrition Services Department and Outpatient Practices.
Essential Functions:
- Understands the relationship of nutrition and medical therapy. Remains current with advances in nutrition.
- Integrates nutrition into the interdisciplinary care of the patient. Applies nutrition knowledge to a variety of patient populations.
- Completes nutrition assessment and care planning. Provides continuity of care with an emphasis on beneficial outcomes to the patient. Meets Grand View Hospital Nutritional Standards of Care for documentation, timeliness and accuracy.
- Oversees the dissemination of nutrition information so that patients are sent diet appropriate and nutritionally adequate meals and / or nutrition support.
- Provides nutritional care and counseling to Home Care patients as per protocol guidelines.
- Provides inpatient and outpatient education as appropriate as well as nutrition training to hospital and department staff.
- Conducts nutrition education for the community at health fairs, lectures, workshops, and other types of presentations. Performs public speaking as required.
- Participates in performance improvement teams, task forces and committees for the hospital. May be required to manage small projects.
- Maintains confidentiality of the hospital, Sodexo and patient information.
This position will support outpatient services for Grand View's Endocrinology Office 3 days a week. In-patient weekend rotation every 6th Saturday.
