Under direct supervision of the professional staff, the Clinical & Quality Assistant, Telemetry performs certain non-complex duties related to patient care and functioning of the unit. The Clinical & Quality Assistant, Telemetry functions to support the staff assisting with clerical duties along with delivery of patient care to varied age groups while providing a calm, caring and clean environment.
Essential Functions:
- The Clinical & Quality Assistant, Telemetry assists other members of health-care team to deliver safe, appropriate quality patient care.
- Assists with or provides basic nursing care in order to help the nurse meet the activities of daily living for the patient.
- Assists with patient mobility needs including turning, positioning, transferring, and ambulation of patients as directed, using appropriate and proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Responds to emergency situations within the scope of their training and performs under the direction of the RN staff (i.e. CPR).
- Performs vital signs (VS), including use of automatic blood pressure (BP) machine as directed by the nursing staff.
- Under the direction of RN, provides basic skin care to prevent skin breakdown and maintain/improve skin integrity.
- Answers call bells and responds to patient's requests which are within their scope or communicates the need to the nurse.
- Transfers and moves all patient age groups via wheelchair, bed or stretcher to appropriate locations within the hospital
- Maintains open communication with department staff and accepts direction to ensure a safe environment
- Possesses and demonstrates a working knowledge of equipment in order to ensure a safe environment.
- Understands and respects patients' rights to privacy and dignity in order to maintain patient confidentiality
- Ensures that equipment and supplies considered essential are functional, safe and readily accessible in order to provide a safe environment.
- Performs department specific maintenance duties as appropriate to department.
- Acts as a patient advocate to ensure safe, appropriate, quality patient care.
- Adheres to standards of practice for infection control and universal precautions.
- Assists with communications between Department Manager, House Supervisor and unit staff regarding the 24-Hour Report, admissions, transfers and bed availability to operationalize department activities.
- Answer phone, faxes request for patient information and physician discharge instructions to primary care provider per HIPAA guidelines.
- Organizes, maintains, and updates departmental files and records (e.g., patient’s clinical record, unit statistics, old records, etc.) in an accurate manner to provide for timely and efficient processing of information.
- Copies and faxes records in a prompt manner according to established medical records policy in order to fulfill requests from appropriate sources
Schedule: 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, three days per week, every other weekend and every other holiday
